Financial and Regulatory Reporting Manager
We are looking for a Financial and Regulatory Reporting Manager to join Ansvar in our Melbourne office. Competitive salary, excellent benefits and hybrid working.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Duration: Permanent
Location: Melbourne
Job Ref: REQ204845
About the role
Ansvar Australia, proudly part of the Benefact Group, is looking for a Financial and Regulatory Reporting Manager to join our Finance team.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing Ansvar's financial and regulatory reporting processes, managing the integrity of the balance sheet, and ensuring high-quality financial control across the business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll lead a team through month-end, quarter-end and year-end cycles, manage the external audit relationship, and play a key role in shaping how Finance operates as the business continues to grow.
As Financial and Regulatory Reporting Manager at Ansvar, you'll combine deep technical accounting expertise with a genuine passion for process improvement and team development. You'll own the APRA and statutory reporting processes, oversee investment and treasury management, and act as the line 1 risk champion for Finance, all while building a high-performing team culture grounded in Ansvar's values.
This is a role for someone who brings both rigour and energy, and who wants to lead finance transformation in a purpose-driven organisation.
Why join us?
We are embracing significant organisational change and need innovative thinkers and change makers who want to shape the future, not just be part of it.
Your Voice Matters: Work directly with decision-makers who champion fresh ideas and where you can make a genuine impact.
Diverse Opportunities: As a nimble, dynamic organisation, you’ll gain exposure to challenging projects and cross-functional skills.
Meaningful Work: From our Community Education Programme to protecting heritage buildings and partnering with faith-based and community organisations, your work will make a tangible difference.
Be part of a collaborative, inclusive, and ambitious culture committed to making a difference and working towards a more sustainable future. Ranked amongst Australia's Top 40 Best Workplaces to Give Back in 2024, we offer fantastic career and development opportunities, with all of our profits going to charity and good causes.
What you'll be doing
Lead and oversee the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting cycles, including balance sheet reporting, IFRS 17, statutory financial statements and Board reporting.
Manage Ansvar's regulatory reporting obligations, including quarterly APRA returns (D2A, Connect), Group consolidation packs, ABS returns and annual APRA submissions.
Own the external audit relationship and day-to-day management of the year-end audit process, including preparation of technical accounting papers.
Oversee the general ledger control environment, reconciliation processes and enterprise resource planning system administration.
Manage tax compliance across income tax, GST, FBT, state levies and non-resident withholding obligations, working closely with external advisors.
Oversee investment and treasury management, including the relationship with Ansvar's Investment Manager, investment compliance and cash flow forecasting.
Lead the line 1 risk function for Finance, including controls testing, risk profile management, policy ownership and Risk Appetite Statement reporting.
Drive finance transformation and process improvement initiatives, including future technology implementations and cross-functional projects.
Build and develop a high-performing Financial Control team through coaching, mentoring and a strong focus on culture and professional development.
What you'll need to have
A CA or CPA qualification with a strong commercial accounting background and at least 10 years' experience in progressively senior finance roles.
At least three years' experience working in the general insurance industry, with a solid understanding of commercial insurance principles, reinsurance and regulatory frameworks, including APRA.
Demonstrated experience leading financial and regulatory reporting cycles, including statutory accounts and external audit management.
Experience dealing with regulators, external auditors, rating agencies and investment management service providers.
Strong leadership capability with a track record of building, coaching and developing high-performing finance teams.
Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables and financial modelling, alongside strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite and finance systems.
Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
A proactive, improvement-oriented mindset. You look for ways to improve processes, not just maintain them.
Big 4 accounting firm experience with evidence of strong progression is highly regarded.
