About the role
Ansvar, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a Technical Underwriting Specialist to join our Brighton office.
In this role, you’ll help ensure our underwriting activities operate within a robust and effective control framework. You’ll provide timely technical referrals to support our wider teams and play a key part in maintaining high-quality underwriting standards through audits, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

What you'll be doing
Support the business in delivering business plan and achieving target underwriting quality and standards in line with underwriting strategy through:
Acting as a specialist referral point and coach, dealing with complex referrals from the Underwriting Operations team and providing real time coaching and feedback to support the development of technical knowledge and capability within the underwriting function
Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of underwriting guides and audit recommendations, supporting the business unit in ensuring that standards are met and technical expertise cascaded, meeting defined levels of service (SLAs)
Conduct high quality internal and delegated authority audits in line with plan and SLAs, and contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting standards
Act as a quality and development representative for UW, liaising with all areas of the business and escalating risks as required
Working in partnership with Underwriting Operations to enable underwriting of quality business within appetite and individual underwriting licence
Understanding and operating within regulatory framework including, audit and DA management and identifying and escalating any risks to the business
Undertaking Underwriting Development projects
What you'll need to have
Cert CII. Dip CII preferred, or working towards
Detailed knowledge of general insurance principles
Solid understanding of the regulatory framework
Experience identifying and escalating risk.
An analytical approach with high levels of attention to detail.
Clear and concise written communication with experience of submitting balanced and well considered recommendations.
Coaching skills, with ambition and capability to develop these further
