Ecclesiastical Insurance, who are proudly part of Benefact Group are looking for a Business Development Specialist to join our dynamic Central Region team.
This role will see you underwriting a diverse range of insurance products, while building and maintaining relationships with our broker partners. Key responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite new business in alignment with Ecclesiastical's strategic goals
- Identify and capitalise on business development opportunities within key brokers' portfolios, building and growing business relationships
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with a select panel of broker partners, ensuring excellent customer service
- Plan, prioritise, and manage individual tasks to meet agreed objectives and SLAs.
- Maintain successful internal and external relationships through effective communication methods
- Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance
- Understand and operate within the regulatory framework, identifying and escalating any business risks
- Address any identified complaints in accordance with company policy
- Continuously expand personal technical and niche knowledge through networking and industry resources
Knowledge, skills and experience
- University degree or equivalent insurance experience
- Insurance-related courses or certifications are preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting, with a demonstrated success in acquiring new business
- Understanding of commercial property and casualty insurance products, underwriting guidelines, and industry best practices
- Familiarity with the regional market, key customer segments, and competitor analysis
- Proven ability to identify and capitalise on business opportunities within key brokers' portfolios
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a proven record of exceptional customer service
- Proficiency in underwriting tools, systems, and data analysis techniques for risk assessment and to determine appropriate coverage and pricing
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities in underwriting scenarios
- Strong organisational and time management skills to efficiently handle multiple new business opportunities simultaneously
- High ethical standards, adherence to industry regulations and guidelines, and the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
