About the role
Ansvar, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a Finance Manager to join our Brighton office.
As a Finance Manager you will play a crucial role in developing and leading the delivery of finance business partnering in support of the business plan, overseeing the finance operations function and ensuring alignment with Group Finance Strategy.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver analysis of results, plans and forecast for Ansvar to support the leadership team and Group Finance requirements, including finance input into strategic planning cycle
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes and monitoring ensuring robust documentation of assumptions, stress tests, drivers and outputs
- Provide guidance and challenge in relation to commercial and financial aspects of the business to maximise profitability and efficiency to influence Ansvar in delivering its strategic objectives by:
- Delivery of complex financial modelling relating to KPIs and value drivers
- Providing and developing insightful financial information and commentary
- Delivery of a robust and reliable view of outturn for the year
- Identifying risks, opportunities and trends and escalate via appropriate channel
- Highlighting appropriate actions
- Providing Company and Niche level analysis of profitability and Return on Capital
- Support the production and analysis of monthly / quarterly portfolio management MI and associated commentary to feed into relevant Ansvar Leadership team and Board Meetings
- Supporting and delivering change requirements and continuous improvement within the Finance team
- Lead the finance team to deliver day to day operational activities, month end close and reporting requirements
- Challenge business decisions and performance by providing insightful information, including explanations of financial performance in the context of the strategy and plans
- Deliver, analyse & monitor Management Information including, but not limited to, trends of KPIs, portfolio & broker performance and expense management taking proactive action to optimise financial performance
- Delivery of information to Group Reporting to allow internal reporting, statutory and regulatory reporting
- Motivate and lead the development and performance of the Finance team creating an empowered, disciplined, high performing and collaborative team
- Support and represent (when required) the Head of Insurance Finance (ex-UKGI) by providing analysis, insights and reports as requested
- Ensure agreed standards of financial control, governance and the risk management framework are embedded in all business processes
- Commitment to personal and technical development both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CPD)
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Qualified Accountant
- Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills
- Microsoft Excel proficient, and Power BI capabilities preferred
- Strong commercial understanding
- Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment
- Proven ability to build strong relationships whilst maintaining objectivity, challenge and influence
- Excellent Communicator with ability to negotiate at all levels
- Strong leadership and engagement skills, with demonstrable ability to lead, direct and coach both own direct reports and wider team
- Track record of delivering cultural change, creating empowered and disciplined high performing teams
- Demonstrable predisposition and ability to work collaboratively with other Ansvar functions and Group Finance function
