About the role

Methodist Insurance are seeking new non-executive directors to join the Board and succeed long term serving ministers stepping down in 2024.

On this occasion the Company is seeking to appoint a minister or lay member of the Methodist Church. It is important that the person appointed should be familiar and actively engaged with the priorities of the Methodist Church, including at local, Circuit and District level, and the wider Connexion. This is vital to ensure the Company continues to serve the needs of the Methodist Church and they understand the challenges that the Methodist community faces in the 21st Century.

The Company is a commercial organisation so its directors have the same responsibilities as any insurance company but remains true to its founding values and its mission is to run an ethical and profitable general insurance company for the benefit of the Methodist Church and to help communities create safe environments for worship, witness and service through its grant giving to the Benefact Trust.

Candidates will ideally have experience in insurance, financial or audit services or otherwise have worked in a regulated environment. The successful candidate shall be appointed as a non-executive director to the Company, and will ideally serve on the Company’s Audit, Finance and Compliance Committee and its Investment Committee, as well as a Director on the Company’s Main Board.

Location of meetings: Manchester, London and Gloucester (please note these meetings are held within working hours usually between 11am – 4pm)

Annual Remuneration: £15,600 which is reviewed by the Board every two years.

Time Commitment: 4 days per quarter
