About the role
Ecclesiastical Insurance, who are proudly part of Benefact Group are looking for a Existing Schemes Development Underwriter to join our Gloucester office.
As Existing Schemes Development Underwriter you will support the delivery of the Business Plan through managing growth, retention and relationships with our existing schemes.

Key responsibilities
- Develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite existing schemes within own authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy
- Management of existing schemes trading through retention, new business and rate action
- Identification of emerging trends and shortfalls against budget, setting and agreeing action to rectify or mitigate
- Proactively develop commercially successful relationships with our existing scheme partners
- Act as the business unit stakeholder for the management of external relationships
- Provide embedded support at partner and customer sites if required.
- Present risk-based solutions pulling on innovation and continuous improvement, working in conjunction with risk control and claims
- Promote Ecclesiastical’s brand, values and reputation in it markets, with customers, suppliers and partners
- Act as referral point for the wider schemes team
- Represent and promote Ecclesiastical at customer, partner and industry events where required
- Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CII, CPD)
Knowledge, skills and experience
- ACII qualified or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale
Graduate from Ecclesiastical’s internal Underwriting academy within an agreed timescale - In depth insurance knowledge
- Appropriate IT skills
- Experience of building and maintaining co-operative and productive relationships at all levels
- Confident and influential communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels
- The ability to build and manage co-operative and productive relationships
- A proven track record of acting as a coach within a commercial environment
- Experience and ability to analyse and produce relevant MI
