About the role
Managing the commercial relationships for key Diocesan, Cathedral, major Church, and associated clients within a designated region
Providing embedded underwriting support at client meetings and premises
Key responsibilities
- Own and proactively develop commercially successful and productive relationships with allocated Dioceses, Cathedrals, major Churches, other associated risks and Archdeacons etc as per customer contact plan
- Provide embedded underwriting support within authority levels at client meetings and premises
- Provide and maximise a local Ecclesiastical presence for the above customers supporting the renewal process through the delivery of annual insurance reviews, regular meetings (in person and online) so that every allocated customer is interacted with as per the customer contact plan.
- Act as the key point of contact for identified key customers, triage cases and enquiries to establish the right contact within the department and company
- Planning and delivering agreed activity levels
- Ensuring CRM accurately reflects planned and actual activity
- Supporting the SCRM including attendance at SCRM meetings as per the customer contact plan
- Attend conferences and events as a representative of Ecclesiastical, including giving presentations to key clients and larger groups if needed
- The provision of ongoing service and support to ensure retention, new business and growth targets of the business are met
- Acting within Ecclesiastical’s risk appetite retain business in our core market sectors through:
- Strategic account planning
- Senior stakeholder management (internal and external)
- Maintaining a high profile with key influencers
- Work proactively with colleagues in the technical support functions (including Risk, Underwriting and Claims) to deliver exceptional service to our clients and profitability of business underwritten maintaining prudent UW standards
- Delivering a high quality customer experience following best practice guidelines
- Market scanning of competitor benefits
- Develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite new/existing business within own authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy
- Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance
- Understand and operate within regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business
- Identify complaints and act upon them in line with company policy.
- Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CII, CPD)
- Provide meaningful customer and niche insights to the business and supply any related MI
- Promote Ecclesiastical and the value proposition at all times
- Organise and coordinate opportunities to broaden our relationship with Church customers and demonstrate how Ecclesiastical could meet their needs outside insurance by promoting other corporate value added services within the Benefact Group such as EFAS, Eden Tree and SEIB
Knowledge, skills and experience
- Chartered Insurance Professional
- ACII qualification or significant progress towards within agreed time frame
- Experience of underwriting large or complex risks essential
- Detailed knowledge of policy covers used for Diocesan, Cathedral and major Church clients
- Highly credible with a strong reputation for delivery and service.
- Market, Industry and Company knowledge
- Strong track record in a customer facing role delivering exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of the Church of England and/or experience of working with churches an advantage
- Proven confident and influential communicator at all levels
- Proven ability to build productive and cooperative relationships internally and externally
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills
- Positive, proactive, enthusiastic and value driven individual with a proven “can-do” attitude
- A self-starter with high organisational skills and willingness to develop skills and qualifications
- Ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends. This will include regular travel and overnight stays.
- Experience of MI reporting and data analysis
- Clean driving licence required
